Letters from Iwo Jima

Went to watch "Letters from Iwo Jima". I love war-related and animal-related stories. SO you bet I enjoyed "Saving Private Ryan", "Black Hawks Down", "Patton", "Pearl Harbour", "Hotaru no haka" etc. Nope..i am not a War-advocate. Contractory, I an a Peace-lover. I really hope for World Peace. War is really such a brutal thing. I love to watch and read about war stuffs simply because I love to read about the spirit of righteous and determination in soldiers, brutal and survior versus humanity, etc.

I particularly like a phrase inside the movie, "Always do what is right because it is right" How many times do we really do the right thing? In such situation like in wartime, it's even harder to really do the right thing in any circumstances. And that's really noble. Till today, many historians and war strategists, doubt whether the battle at Iwo Jima was necessary and worthwhile. Of the over 22,000 Japanese soldiers, 20,703 died, and 216 were captured. The Allied forces suffered 25,281 casualties, with 5,598 deaths. This was the only large engagement of WWII in which the Allied forces suffered more casualties (dead plus injured) than their Japanese opponents. In any war, many a times, the enemies shared too many similarities than differences. All soldiers have families at home and reasons to want to live and at the same time, fulfilling duty for their countries. It makes me ponder about the recent Iraq war where children and women were also involved and the brutality in using civilians in warfare. How do you maintain humanity in an inhumane situation?

No matter what's your religion, do constantly pray for World Peace. And if you haven't watch this movie, go catch it.

PS. Met Third at the cinema. Hahaha! I was so "excited" I called him "Third". Sorry Dear, I am just too used to it. I know you hate it...forgive me. I will remember to call you by your name next time. Kekekeke! =P
