Today is the 15th of the first Lunar Month and supposedly the last day for celebration of Chinese New Year. *Sob sob* No more Ang Pow and no more Yu Sheng. So today we ordered our Lo Hei Yu Sheng for the last time till the Year of the Rat. We had a vegetarian one. It tastes really yummy. Mummy Teddy Bear got it from Cherry Garden in Oriental Hotel. It's refreshing to have Yu Sheng without the "Yu". The taste was not too much, rather tasty I would say. Costs a heft $38.00 for small package without any Fish and only vegetables.
Twinny contributed fried nian gao which she wrapped with spring roll skin and then deep fried. It was yummy too. Twinny can cook, so can you. Kekekeke!
It's a little quiet here in Singapore but Yuan Siao is a big festive over at Taiwan and China where big decorative lanterns were displayed and there will be Lantern riddles guessing. Lantern riddles are riddles that were written on the lanterns. Let's try one here...
Guess : Thing.
Yuan Siao is a romantic day in the past as it was the only day which an ummarried girl was traditionally permitted to appear in public unescorted and thus be seen by eligible bachelors. Love messages were passed through lantern riddles for girls or boys to express their feelings for each other. Ermm... of course there is no longer such implications nowadays. Singapore Girls can now go out more freely unescorted.
