Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Happy Birthday ...
Happy Birthday to you .... woof!

After doing java for so long, and though everytime interview, I like to ask people what does final mean in java. I can still make this mistake when helping a colleague to check what is wrong with his program. How come after he change the constant class and patch into the jar file, the other class is still showing the old constant value ... sigh... I finally solve the mystery ... but couldn't believe that it took me that looo.......oonnnnng ...
Am I getting old?
Pregnancy making me more forgetful? hahaha...
maybe time to sharpen my skills. *sigh*
Still lost as to what I am saying, you can look at the article below:
Compile-time String Constant Quiz
Happy coding and hopefully after reading this, you won't make the same silly mistake as me. :)
Sorry know I have not been blogging for ages. :) So today wanted to share something. If you all have been taking bus like me. Then iris is someone that you MUST know if you have not known yet. iris is the acronym for Intelligent Route Information System by SBS Transit. There is actually 2 main services provided by iris, the iris Journey Planner and the iris NextBus.
iris Journey Planner helps you plan the best way to get to your destination by providing travel solutions on our bus, LRT and/or NEL, based on the cheapest fare, shortest walking distance or shortest travelling time. But I find it might not always give you a good answer. Sometimes the route it plan seem to take me all over Singapore. :p But then maybe the location I am looking at is too ulu. :p
iris NextBus is our latest iris service and it offers bus arrival time estimation on a real time basis. You now have the convenience of knowing how many minutes away your bus is from your bus stop or how long more before the next bus departs from the bus interchange. iris NextBus is available on our website and via GPRS and sms on mobile devices. This service is a service that I use almost everytime when I am going home. :) So that I do not have to waste too much time waiting at the bus stop as sometimes my bus service can take very long to come. :p But do give yourself about 10 - 8 mins buffer to get to the bus stop. Because depending on the traffic condition, sometimes the waiting time might get shortened or lengthened. The only disappointing thing I have is that the sms is only available for SingTel customers. So I can't use the sms service. :(

SMS
The service is chargeable at $0.05 by SingTel and available exclusively to SingTel mobile subscribers only. There will also be one SMS deduction for post-paid customers while prepaid or stored-value card customers, with no FREE SMS bundle will need to pay an additional $0.05 or $0.10 altogether per iris NextBus query.
For more details, you can refer to http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/iris/mobile_devices-sms.aspx.
GPRS
To access iris on your mobile devices please key in www.sbstransit.com.sg/mobileiris for mobile phones or http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/iris3/pdanextbus.aspx for PDAs.
Hope that you all would find iris as useful as I do. ^_^

Last Saturday was in a "delivery" order mood. So we decided to call this makan express to order some lunch from Thai Express. They needed minimum $20 to make a delivery. So we ordered a tom yam soup ($6.90), a green curry with jasmine rice ($8.90), small portion of rice ($0.60) and fried tofu beancurd as appertizer ($5.90). Which amount to about $22.30 plus additional $2 delivery charges, some 5% gst and some 10% service charge; which should be around $28.
We called them up before 11.30 since the line is only open at 11. And was hoping we can be eating by 12.30. The lady at the other line say they would take an hour to deliver and calculated the total bill to be exactly $30. Which we were both very surprised but decided to just wait for the final bill later to see how it get add up to $30.
So we waited till slightly after 12.30 before the food came. Then we realised we just got a recipt that stamped $30 (no break down) and they totally forgot that extra portion of rice. So been not very happy about their not so clear receipt (anyhow charge) and also their forgetfulness. We called them up again and request for the rice. They said they need to check with the restaurant and call us back later. They called us back quite fast but we were told that they are sorry about the rice but they would be sending us back the rice like another hour later. So the lady on the other line said "You got to wait another hour for your rice, do you still want it?". So my husband replied, "Of course since you already charge me for it!". Was very angry with their service by now because although it was their mistake but instead of been apologetic, they are hoping we would just forget about the rice. So we just told them it was their mistake and they are making us wait and the food would have turn cold by then and we would expect them to deliver the rice ASAP.
But guess they didn't value another call from us as this time round the rice took more than 1 hour to come. And our calls were also not picked up after we try to call them after waiting for 1 hour for that rice.
So morale of the story ... makan express (or cusine express) as what is printed on the receipt. You definitely have one less customer now. X-( And guess for delivery, I would just stick to MacDonald's.

Motive, power, and action, arising from Inspiration and Impulse.
The Lovers represents intuition and inspiration. Very often a choice needs to be made.
Originally, this card was called just LOVE. And that's actually more apt than "Lovers." Love follows in this sequence of growth and maturity. And, coming after the Emperor, who is about control, it is a radical change in perspective. LOVE is a force that makes you choose and decide for reasons you often can't understand; it makes you surrender control to a higher power. And that is what this card is all about. Finding something or someone who is so much a part of yourself, so perfectly attuned to you and you to them, that you cannot, dare not resist. This card indicates that the you have or will come across a person, career, challenge or thing that you will fall in love with. You will know instinctively that you must have this, even if it means diverging from your chosen path. No matter the difficulties, without it you will never be complete.
What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.
They said there are three distinct stages of love; each with their own characteristic emotional profile and scientific explanation.
First is lust. Lust is driven by our sex hormones testosterone and oestrogen. When we're teenagers, just after puberty, estrogen and testosterone become active in our bodies for the first time and create the desire to experience "love." After lust comes attraction. This is the love-struck phase; the time when we lose our appetite, can't sleep, and can't concentrate. This is what we know as falling in love.
When we fall in love, our palms sweat, we can stutter and become breathless, we can't think clearly and it feels like we have butterflies in our stomachs. This is all due to surging brain chemicals called monoamines. They are called dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin. Norepinephrine and serotonin excite us, while dopamine makes us feel happy. These love chemicals are controlled by a substance which is also found in chocolate and in strawberries, called PEA or phenylethylamine and it is PEA which controls the transition from lust to love. Similar in structure to amphetamine, PEA too gives us that excitement we crave. The old saying "love is blind" is really accurate in this stage. We are often oblivious to any flaws our partner might have. We idealize them and can't get them off our minds. This overwhelming preoccupation and drive is part of our biology.
The third stage of love is attachment - staying together. Attachment takes over from the attraction stage and is the bond which keeps couples together. After all, we couldn't possibly stay in the attraction stage for ever - we would never get any work done for day dreaming. Two different hormones are important during this phase of love. They are oxytocin and vasopressin.
Oxytocin (the cuddling chemical) not only increases the bond between lovers, but is also one of the chemicals responsible for contractions during childbirth, milk expression when breastfeeding.
Vasopressin is the monogamy chemical. Only about three percent of mammals are monogamous; mating and bonding with one partner for life. Unfortunately, humans are not one of these naturally monogamous animals.
Endorphins are also involved in the longevity of love. Endorphins have the same pain-killing and pleasure-delivering properties as their cousin, morphine, without the risk of overdose.
Umm... so when it comes to choosing our Mr/Mrs Right, are we at the mercy of our subconscious or do we make a more conscious decision? :)
