Tatsu Sushi

It does felt really rather good that an overseas ex-supplier actually gave me a ring to ask me for lunch while he dropped in for a business trip recently. Well, at my new workplace, unfortunately, I do not have that leisure long lunch hour that I used to enjoy at my previous company so Moi had to tell NoNo-san that it got to quick and near my workplace. And the sweet him did oblige. ^_-) arigatou!

So we ventured to Tatsu Sushi inside Chijmes for lunch. This was Moi's second visit as I recalled after my first visit, I felt this place thought serve very fresh and nice sushi and sashimi, is really too pricey. Maybe it was with economic downturn, I was surprised to enjoy my bara chirashi sushi set at $18. Bara chirashi sushi is actually diced version of chirashi sushi and chirashi sushi is like your usual rice-don set except that instead of pork cutlet or chicken on top, you got scattered sushi on top. Not only was sushi fresh and tasty, the vinegar sauce tasted just nice.

Yummy yummy!! Thanks NoNo-san!!

For All Carnivores

This is a haven for all meat lovers!! They only serve the salad buffet at S$26+++ or the meat (include the salad buffet) at S$42+++. Yamcha was sharing that the restaurant actually offers 14 different kinds of meat cut but I think we only managed to "survive" for 7 - 8 meat cuts. Hahahaha! I understand from the rest of the gang that the beef was really juicy and tender but alas i dun take beef lor. So very the loogi!! Anywhere I still enjoyed the dinner tremedously because the meat was very well grilled, roasted, cut and fresh. They even served cut pineapples...which I didn't like too much. kekekee! Bulma and ChiChi tried their chicken liver and ChiChi felt it tasted yucky.. anywhere, food is a personal preferences.

But we were full of praise for the lamb, beef, chicken tigh and ham. And dun miss out the well-spread salad bar. They have beetroot, deep-fried mushroom, jackfuit salad, fried banana, fried crispy vegetable and many more. It was really nice. Moi and ChiChi were taking heaps and heaps of the salad... Shy ChiChi even commented if we were ...er...too greedy. Aiyoh!! It's buffet, right? Kekekeke! Well, the highlight is the starter - a light creamy cheese bread (pao de queijo) with a hole in then centre for putting different exotic sauce. Really yummy!!

Goku and ChiChi brought a little surprise - Gohan (5mths) along...it was so exciting to see him. He was so adorable, smiling at all the pretty lasses (ahem...including Moi...) at the table. ^_-)

The service was excellent! All the staffs were very friendly and came over to our table from time to time to chat and joke with us. They even took the initiative to help make little Gohan more comfortable by up the air-con temperature and in creating a cosy space for Gohan. Really warm service.

Werner's Oven

The restaurant was empty when we stepped in. I would not have connected it to a bakery if not for SuperModel. Werner's Oven actually started out baking and selling german bread before turning to a German food restaurant. Food was lovely and the service was amiable. We down 2 Weissbier 500ml @ $12.50 each with our dinner.

Cheese Sausage $19.50

Pork Knuckle $19.50

Buffet in Raffles Style

It was a lovely treat from Gucci. Our second lunch after the first. Our next destination is nonetheless, the posh Bar & Billard Room at Raffles hotel. Called me Sua-ku but it was first time for me to have buffet at Raffles and it was a wonderful experience. ^_-) Gucci had a 1-for-1 deal so with a price for 1, we enjoyed 2 pax buffet. Kekeke! The spread was very wonderful and the chef never failed to keep filling up the plates with fresh oysters, lobsters, crabs, sashimi, crayfishes, etc., etc. The meat was also grilled nicely and the desserts are just so delectable sinful. Well, it will definitely make our money more worth if we had come on a lazy weekend afternoon. Heehee!

Next time, Tiffin Room? =P

Brewerkz Revisited

Went down to Brewerkz to have beer and beer-food the other day. Well, Brewerkz is one of my favourite hunt, they serve nice beer and nice food and the crowd is loud so no one bothers you except yourself. Of course it does help that service is good.

The group wanted the Sampler set so moi had the same too.... still prefers Pilsner and Golden Ale more. =P

Tried and True Sampler set - (1) Golden Ale (2) Pilsner (3) India Pale Ale (4) Oatmeal Stout $12.99

Snack Sampler $45.99 - Calamari, chicken wings, mini-sausages and fried cheese sticks

Hawaiian Pizza $20.99

Torisho Taka

Went back to Coffee Bar K for drinks but made a wrong choice with a 1989 vintage italian wine...the taste was not to my liking unfortunately. NOT BAD tasting, just it tasted so mellow that it doesn't seem to justify its idling for the past 19 years. =P

And so i was told that to improve the mixing of the wine with oxygen... the bartender heated the wine first before pouring it out... Maybe it was to compensate the less than expectation taste of the red wine, we were presented with better bar snacks than previously. *wink*

Proceeded to Torisho Taka at Gallery Hotel for dinner thereafter. Torisho Taka was from the same group as Aoki, the famous yakitori shop at Scots Shaw centre. We ordered....Well, I would prefer Aoki and the nameless place. But Torisho Taka was not too bad, really. There is only one chef grilling all the items and he did it very patiently and well too. Moi was blown over by Taka's own signature ramen, made of chicken broth soup. The taste was really plain and refreshing in comparison to the oily yaki-mono. So a SUPER plus point. Well, well, can't help it, Moi, a ramen craze.

Nankotsu (chicken cartilage)

Tebasaki (chicken wings)

Tsukune (Minced chicken meat balls)

The goose liver was a little let down. It was too soft and hardly grilled...

Smurfy Time

La la la la la la, sing a happy song, .... La la la la la la..

Moi had a smurfy time at Papa Smurf's abode.

Papa Smurf started preparing all the food since the night before... and early this morning... Moi, being always so super-kiasu and super-hyper, reached Papa Smurf's house first. kekekeke! Was really excited for this long-awaited gathering CUM meeting since it's been a while since the smurfs gather. =P

Well I think I will do a great dis-service to the food if I post small pictures of Papa Smurf's cooking... so here's today lunch in bigger display. Kekeke!

Save the Sashimi below is contributions from Handy Smurf and Smurfette. They got it from Sakura-ya at Jurong Point... I understand from Smurfette that this is the wholesaler that was introduced on TV that supply the local sashimi.... SUPER FRESH and YUMMY!! And price was reasonable for fresh nice sashimi... Smurfette got it at a steal of $19.00.

Papa Smurf got a BIG surprise for Handy Smurf... ^_-) He went to get Cedele chocolate cake. Yummy!! Handy loves it so much that he even tabao back some...kekekeke!

Well kena lots of "drilling" from the Smurfy gang who went ooooohh and arrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhh.... hahahhaha!! Had a wonderful time at Papa Smurf's place with chat and our short meeting... we should have this often BUT without the meeting lah! hahahaha! And....

La la la la la la, Smurf the whole day long. ;-)

Cheers!! TO the new year!!

Countdown to 2008

The swimming float around my waist seems to be persistent there.... so decided to be more "discipline" and go back to my exercise regime of running and yoga. =P Caught a Mr SuSe-look-alike during yoga class.... hahahaha! SuSe, i thought you look "unique" enough. Didn't know u got a "twin" har... kekeke!

Made my way after yoga to do some new year shopping.. Er...Christmas-giving extend to new year-giving... Got invited to Papa Smurf and Uncle Jews homes for new year dinner...

Decided to get a bottle of wine for Papa Smurf... was browsing at Carrefour and didn't really know what to get... in cases as such, I usually go for the safer choice - red wine. Had wanted to get a Beaujolais, which is easy drinking and sweeter, great tasting when "young" too since Beaujolais is not meant for keeping long time... But i couldn't find a suitable one so decide to get bordeaux instead. Bordeaux is very common so it's rather safe but then again it got too wide a variety from light to full-bodied.... so it was a little hard... Took a while to decide on Dourthon No.1 2005 which is medium-bodied... hmm..which I think should be more easy drinking and lighter. This wine is a mixture of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon... Got it at a good price of less than S$30... Hmm... regarding the taste, I will share it later after tasting it. kekeke!

Well, though Moi will prefer a shiraz or a burgundy since I like more full-bodied and powerfully flavoured wines. =P

Couldn't find Mars Celebrations chocolate at Carrefour, had thought that Moi would need to travel all the way to the Candy Empire at Millennia walk but "caught" them at The Cocoa Tree at Suntec. Heehee! Phew!! Uncle Jews, you better be thankful and "grateful" to make Moi search high and low for your Celebrations hor. =P

Well, looking forward to gather with friends and usher in the new year!!

4 more days to 2008....

Christmas Celebration

I was "craving" very much for a christmas celebration... so I cajoled Buttercup and Bubbles (despite just meeting them) to go celebrate christmas together....

AND so we had Thai FOOD ...kekekeke!

In clockwise starting Top left corner : (1) Thai tangerine juice (2) claypot tofu (3) Thai fish cake (4) Tom Yum Seafood Soup (5) Mango salad (6) Pineapple rice

The Tangerine Juice is really nice...not your usual orange juice, definitely a refreshing change. The Tom Yum Soup is super SHIOK.... Moi, despite not being able to take any spicy stuff, love the Tom Yum Soup!!! I was drinking it with tears. T_T Really delicious with its generous serving of big luscious prawns and mushrooms!! Really yummy!!

Passed by Raffles hotel... with its pretty christmas deco... jingle bells jingle bells jingle bells.... ^_-)

Adjoined to New Asia Bar at the top of the world for drinks and more gossips exchanges.... Bub made a wrong choice with her drink, her stamford tower tasted like cough syrup. My blue equinox tasted a little better though not so much too... was a little surprise that Asia Bar started taking cover charge of $15.00 per pax. It was just charged per drink when Moi came here eons ago. Well maybe that was to prevent the customers that just went up to enjoy the nice night view and not ordering much drinks......

We shared a lot about relationships and the life changes in us... Bub moving to a new working environment and position soon, Buttercup moving to a new level in her relationship and etc. etc. It was always nice to catch up and gave each other the little encouragement here and there... and remind that SOMEONE that her eyes are SUPER small so her statement of his eyes bigger than mine, just made moi and buttercup's toes laughed. =D
