Beng Hiang

Beng Hiang is some place that Moi frequently quite often especially with business clients, basically because it's near moi's office and that the food is really nice. Beng Hiang has a long history way back to the 1970s and specializes in Hokkien cuisine. Beng Hiang always gives me a very nostalgic feeling like going back in time to those traditional restaurant that daddy and mummy brought me... so i am happy to go there...despite having to enjoy the slower lay back service from the crew of uncles and aunties servers. I understand that this is one of the place that Jackie chan comes every time he is in Singapore yo. ;-)

Anywhere, the must-try dishes at Beng Hiang are their fish maw soup, their Kong Bak Pau and their hokkien mee. The fish maw soup is very thick with loads of ingredients. I love to taste it with lots of pepper. Kekeke! Well, braised pork might sounds really oily and sinful BUT Beng Hiang managed to make it so nice that the FAT FAT MEAT will just melt inside your whole mouth... LOVELY!! I ate 4 myself. hahahahaha! I also like their steamed pomfret in teochew style with salted plums, ginger and spring onions. The fish is really fresh without any fishy smell. Next, we also tried their ngoh hiang which was served hot and crispy. Another Yummy dish!! Finally, their Hokkien mee is not the typical yellow and white noodles hokkien mee but the traditional type in dark color gray with pork lard, fish slices, prawns and green vegetables. SLURP!! The noodles are simply amazing. I like their Hokkien mee very much.

Definitely and highly recommended as a family gathering place Daddies and Mummies will all be so happy to visit it.
