Went to try the famous Depot Road Laksa today with my colleague for lunchie. Hmm... it was quite a queue and the tiny claypot laksa costs a hefty $5.00. Nevertheless, we wanted to try and see how "special" it is....*despite Moi having a terrible cough and sore throat - this is my "Poison Kills Poison" strategy*
So here's the traditional famous Depot Road Laksa that people would wait 20 minutes to savour....
Erm...not to splash cold water on such a famous dish...but it's not something I will come back again for. I have not try the authentic one from Depot Road so it might not be very fair to judge by tasting the "franchise" one. The gravy was very thick and milky compared to the usual watery kind of laksa. The fish cakes are also sliced very thin and fine and taste really sweet. It's not too bad but for my personal preference, I do find the gravy too milky and coconutty.
For those who likes the thick gravy type of laksa, you can trot down to the Market street to taste the Depot Road Laksa.
