Santouka

Being the ramen fanatic, it will be insane if I didn't go try Santouka. Santouka is actually a chain ramen shop in Japan. I tried their set at $18.50 more worthwhile as the ala cart will come up to be $12 for the shio ramen, $7 for the sake ikura gohan and $1 for the tamago. Got an additional side dish, Gyoza at $5.00

Shio Ramen

Sake ikura gohan

The soup base is shio (salt) so the soup felt a little salty but not overwhelming. It also has the miso and shoyu base that Moi tried out subsequently. I would said the shio base is still the best follow by miso and shoyu. Like Marutama ramen, the soup was made from pork bones boiled over many long hours. Their runny egg was a little disappointing though. I felt it was a little over-cooked. Noodles was elastic and nice tasting too. In addition, it serves in a better environment than Marutama, being situated next to the river.
