Mata Ramen

I am a ramen freakie, so I went to eat ramen again... Got a new ramen shop opening at the Central and, of course, so definitely, Moi got to go and "survey" this new place and its ramen, right? =P Yup yup!! It's the sensational Marutama Ramen. It was Twinny's suggestion to go check it out. We had made reservation at 8:30pm but we were both terribly held up at somewhere nearby while Twinny's dearie circling his "helicopter" to wait for us. =P Thus I got calls from the restaurant twice to confirm our reservation...

1st Call @ 8:30pm
Marutama Staff : Hi Miss Twin 1. Are you here already?

Me (to self) : Alamak! Moi is transparent meh. If I reached, you sure can see me what!! Stupid question.

Me : So sorry. I will be a little late. But somebody should be coming any minute. [A mystery guest is joining us dinner too.]

Marutama Staff : Nope.

Me : Sorry I will call you back. Definitely coming. Please hold our reservation.

Moi proceed to call Mystery Guest frantically to apologise and to ask him to go to Marutama as fast as his legs could bring him. =P Unfortunately by 9pm, me and twinny were still stuck....so my phone started to ring again...

2nd Call @ 9pm
Marutama Staff : Hi Miss Twin 1. Are you coming soon?

Me : Sorry sorry. My friend not there yet meh?

Marutama Staff : Got. But only 1 where are the other 3??

Me : Er...the other 3..on the way already.* super paiseh *.

Marutama Staff : What time can the other 3 come?

Me : 7 minutes... coming coming. Sorry sorry.... (-_-;;)

To the Mystery guest that sat alone for a good half an hour waiting for twinny, twinny's dearie and myself and still "mysteriously" paid for our dinners. Gomenasai. m(_ _)m And thank you very much.

Moi's Marutama ramen

The uniqueness of Marutama ramen lies in its soup and noodles. The noodles is super thin like our local mee kiah instead of the typical ramen's thick noodles. The ramen soup is of chicken base instead of pork base. Hmm... well... i dun find the soup less saltish or less oily because chicken is used instead of pork. But as a personal preference, I do prefer the usual pork base soup and thick noodles instead of this. But I would say that the thin noodles and soup did compliment each other. Just it does not taste too "ramen" for me. All of us also had additional topping - seasonal egg which is very soft and nice.

Twinny & Mystery Guest's Aka Ramen

Well, Twinny and our Mystery Guest had Aka Ramen which is nuts soup base instead with coriander, the dangerous chai. Heehee! The taste is lighter, less oily and rather refreshing. I would think the Chief Chef of Marutama ramen did quite a good job in creating such an unique soup base. We had also wanted to try their Ebi Ramen (prawn soup) base but it was sold out. =(

Twinny's Dearie's Marutama Ramen with Kakuni & Negi Toppings

Kakuni is our kong ba (braised triple-layer pork) and negi is spring onions. Twinny's dearie ordered additional toppings for negi at a dollar so he was very "skeptical" when he discovered that all of us also got negi in our soup. The fact was all the ramen come with negi lah but his ramen got SUPER SUPER DOUBLE TRIPLE doses of negi lor. Kekekeke!

Yaki Char Siew

This is really nice... the pork was grilled slightly and sliced thinly so it tastes just so tender and sweet with every bite. Ummmmmmmmmmmm... heavenly.

Tori Dango

And we had 2 of these cos we were so super hungry while waiting for our ramen. The unique part about Marutama ramen is that there is kaedama at a dollar. This is very common in the typical ramen shop but the first time for me to encounter in Singapore. So it was rather interesting. I had wanted very badly to ask for my ramen refill but didn't. As I didn't want to be seem like such a "greedy" little pig in front of these 3 teeny weeny tummies. =(

SLURPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, Moi was the first one to finish and lick up my bowl of ramen and wait for the 3 "slowcoaches". BUT I was still super hungry after my teeny weeny bowl of ramen. yup yup yup! I ain't greedy. SHOOT ME. Got to cajole the 3 teeny weeny tummies to adjoin to Sun With Moon for desserts and more chat to fill my BIG tummy. kekeke! This time, it was Twinny's dearie's treat. heehee! Thanks to BIL.

Tofu Cheese Cake.. * who let the bird out??? *

Macha Tiramisu

Twinny had intended to bring us to a nice dessert place along Roberston Quay that should remain un-named for the time being, but it was damn crowded giving that tomorrow is a public holiday. Well, was feeling quite disappointed, since we had walked all the way from the Central to Robertson Quay. But dessert at Sun with Moon was just as good. The Macha Tiramisu was very soft and not too sweet and the Tofu cheese cake was not too creamy and just nice. Yummy.

Our Drinks : Green (celery), Yellow (lemon), Orange (carrot), Black (?)

The 3 of them ordered the vitamin Drinks while Moi's was the Black Vitamin??? What was that?? kekeke! Coffee lah. What u guys are thinking? Not black berries, coka cola or spider venom hor. *wink*

And guess what, after the stroke of 11pm while we are still chatting noisy and enjoying our desserts, Mystery Guest No. 2 popped by to join us. Kekekeke! What a night!! =)
