Ma Maison

Had went a few times to their earlier branch at Bugis Junction ... and had always wanted to drop in their new outlet at the Central... which was unfortunately always FULL. Fortunately for tonight, I managed to finally go to Ma Maison. I will suggest for those wanting to try Ma Maison to make reservation super, super early, preferably 2 weeks in advance.

Ma Maison is a Japanese western food restaurant... selling western food served in Japanese style and taste. So we had...

In clockwise starting Top left corner : (1) Raw Scallop (2) Fried Cheese Balls (3) Fried chicken wings (4) Soba salad (5) Seafood Gratin (5) Tonkatsu (Pork fillet) (6) Tonkatsu sauce (7) Tomato base spaghetti with sausage (8) Squid ink spaghetti (9) Hamburger Steak (10) Dessert : Creme Brulee (11) Dessert : Black sesame ice cream

Raw Scallop was really fresh...and the fried cheese balls were very yummy. Even ABC Junior had to have 2 pcs. The fried chicken wings looked rather ordinary but the marination was rather unique. ABC and Bread Marmas were discussing whether the marination contains ginger.... kekeke!! Tried their signature Soba Salad. It was a "KILLING". Really yummy especially when you dap it with the side mayonnaise. I like the seafood gratin too... the cheese was really cheesy topped with good serving of scallop, shell and prawns.

For the mains, we had their tonkatsu set which comes with a good variety of sauces : their house yellowish sauce, the traditional tonkatsu sweet sauce and salt. I had it just with the simple salt and it was just as yummy. Though Moi finds the pork fillet meat a little tough. Also tried their tomato base spaghetti with sausage and squid ink spaghetti (another of their signature dish). Both were not too bad though I had have better spaghetti. My din din kakis tried their famous hamburger steak and they were full of praises. =P Well, for dessert, we tried their creme brulee (served in the china tea cup) and a black sesame ice cream. Both were nice.

But the plus point about this place is their service. The staff knows their menu very well and could give very good recommendations. Though we were a little unhappy with their serving time... we requested for the food to be served "slowly" but everything still just came out all at the same time without much control. The staff did come many times to apologise profusely and also gave a little toy to ABC Junior....

And interestingly to settle the bill, you need to pass this key to the cashier...cute hor.
