I had dinner at Spizzico again. And this time I managed to capture much better pictures... Hmm???
Why?
Did I use a different camera? No!! It was still kanon.
Was the lighting inside Spizzico much better this time? No!!! It was just as dark.
So what did i do? I managed to adjust Kanon to ISO 400 to capture more light in a faster speed. ISO is the measurement for film speed. The bigger the ISO the faster the film speed. So film with a higher ISO, e.g ISO 400 will mean it's more light-sensitive and means it requires lower light to take the same picture as a ISO 100. And so it will be brighter. To prove my words, below are the photos of the food that moi had taken today... *wink*

Money the root of Emptiness
I deemed that most of you if not all of you would have read the recent news about a HP staff that died from overworking... I have been spending a bit of time with Ballerina lately and we had been discussing about the importance of Money... Well, not that Moi is all that high and noble, but money is not really that important. You need money to be sufficient, but you dun need money to be happy. Money cannot and never will makes you happy. It's such a simple concept that yet, even the most educated one won't ever grasp it.
Even when your bank account is loaded with money, the money bought you big condominium, posh cars, branded goods... but deep down inside you, when the lights are off, what do one craves? Family warm and love and a good health to enjoy it all.... So why do we push ourselves to such an extent chasing after such unimportant things? Money always comes with a price and a Company does not award you high salary in view of letting you smell the fresh air and enjoy yourself but rather to squeeze out every ounce of blood and oil from you.
I earn a very much lower salary than most of my classmates but I am happy... someone got a shock when she was complaining to me about her pay increment when I was earning less than 50% of what she is getting... ERHMM... but I am contented. Note being contented is not equal to being complacent.
But my talk with Ballerina has been rather depressing since I fail to let her see what is important. She wants to get that dream car, she idolizes the others who gets those exclusive credit cards and frequent expensive restaurants and wearing branded accessories and bags and whatever...
Hi dear, I am not stopping you from earning and gaining your riches... but I am sad because you are losing yourself... well, it might be exciting to see that number in your bank account increasing in hundreds or thousands or millions but at the end of the day it's just a number. I just hope you don't lose yourself too much... And dun compare, the World is never fair and never will be. Cos we are all humans.
I am sad... moody....

It's not a really fantastic restaurant and to be honest, so far the dishes I tried was not really that delicious or appetising...EXCEPT for their hamburger set. Er...but I must be truly honest that I have yet to try all the dishes at Mozu. Why the hamburger set? Well, the meat is really juicy and tender and cook evenly. It also taste really fresh and nice. So for now, whenever I visit Mozu, I will have nothing but the Hamburger set.

Hillman Restaurant is like a 5-stars Cze char restaurant that serves homely cooked food in air-con environment with valvet service. Hillman restaurant is particularly very well-received and liked by Japanese expatriates and tourists and is packed with them whenever I visited. High on the wall, there is this very big photo showing that Queen Elizabeth's visit to Hillman Restaurant for dinner in 1965. Amazing, right?
Anywhere their dishes are homely in taste and delicious. Here are some recommendations :-
You could use the cabbage to wrap the omelette with sharks fins and use your hands to put it into your mouth to eat it. It's quite delicious but if you do need to keep your eyes wide OPEN to find the shark fins lor. 
This is their signature dish. Please note the paper is NOT edible. But the chicken is really tasty and it's quite fun to unwrap the chicken.
This is a claypot dish containing fried fish, mushrooms, sotong and all sorts of nice things braised in a savoury brown sauce, another of their signature dish. The taste is not too strong and not too blend. And it seems this is the HAPPY fish dish that appears on the front cover of the menu.
A good place for family gatherings. But I do feel a little discrepancy in treatment given to the locals and the Japanese guests. Yup!! Moi is that sensitive. =P

Exercise Mania
This evening i did my usual 3 km-ish run with my Tuesday Running Kaki... yup..I had a whole bunch running with me... so dun try to count them. =P AND after that I still rush to have a quick dinner with Twinny before proceeding for an hour of yoga. Ya..I am that siao. Hahaha!
But i was so lazy so i miss having dinner with Twinny and ended up having dinner alone. =( But still it was fun to have dinner occasionally alone once in a while.... But due to my rush schedule, it wasn't a very relaxing time. Went into TCC at Raffles Place MRT and ordered a soup, salary and Coffee. What's I like about TCC, is...that TCC, despite being a cafe chain, do manage to serve quite reasonable good food and of course coffee. So i did enjoy my dinner... even though I was gobbling down the food including my coffee. Heehee!
And how was my yoga session today? Well, it was a well stretched one... I felt really "stretched" now and aching all over... HELP!!! I need somebody's help!! kekekeke! (^_-)
And if you think I am calling it a day... Moi took a 30 minute ride to a far, far part of Singapore to celebrate SuSe's Birthday. SuSe, you sure is ONE LUCKY GUY to "make" Moi go all the way to celebrate your birthday hor. You better be super touched and take out tissue paper to wipe your tears. Kekekeke! I was glad I made it in time for SuSe's birthday despite the hiccups and you do meant much. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

McDonald
I dragged myself out of bed early this morning despite sleeping at only 2am yesterday to have breakfast with Bubbles. Yup!! You, sure is one lucky gal hor. Anywhere we had MacDonald Breakfast. Brought back memories of the days when MacDonald just rooted itself in Singapore. I remember it was quite an occassion for mummy and daddy to bring us for MacDonald or KFC or A&W. Nowadays visiting the MacDonald, Burger King, seems like a regular thing for most families. So when Bubbles choi me for breakfast @ MacDonald....it kind of brings a little bit of nostalgist feelings...
We had a good 1 hour chat and later continue with lunchie. Thank you Bubbles for breakfast and lunch. *wink*

I understand there was some BIG fight at this place many years back... but the food is reasonably good. Not those die die must go and eat type but reasonably good and cheap. 
Dun ask me what is San Lou...i dunno myself either. But i understand it's a dry version of Hor Fun without any sauce. Not too bad tasting...but I think I am not accustom to the taste and prefer the wet version Hor Fun. But San Lou is their speciality. 
Well..also tried their Fried Baby squid which is very crispy and nice. I quite like this place. I would think it's a good supper place.

Far East Square : Wanton Mee
There is this little Wanton Mee stall selling Beef Hor fun and Fried Rice inside the Far East Square Food Centre. The unqiueness of this stall is the personalise and friendly service provide by the Aunties and Grannies at this Wanton Mee Stall and the fact that their Wanton Mee comes without any sauce. No black sauce or ketchup or chili. Just plain Simple taste so one can really taste the chewiness of the noodles and savour the wanton and shrimp dumplings with a good amount of fillings. The Char Siew though not exceptional special are thinly slice which I feel help to enhance the sweetness of the Char Siew.

Can you imagine a stall selling nothing but only fried fritters (locally known as You Tiao or You Char Kway). Their fritters are just so warm, cripsy on the outside and soft inside. It was delicious!! It's by far the best You Char Kway i ever had. It's a little expensive at 30 cents...but it's definitely worthwhile to get it. And it definitely had left me craving for more....
Maude Rd : Lor Mee
First time for Moi to taste Lor Mee serve with a white gravy instead of the usual black gravy with lots of see harm (cockles). It will be a long wait of 1-2 hours after 6pm so do come early if you want to try out the Heng Hwa style Lor Mee. Other than a good more than 10 pcs of see harm in one $3 per bowl, the lor mee also comes with sliced pork, prawns and beancurb. The taste is lighter and simpler compared to the conventional black sauce Lor Mee but still just as delicious.
Unforunately Moi is a Non-See harm eater so till I master how to say "Mai Harm", meaning I do not want cockles, I will still have to order my lor mee with a lot of harm. Heehee!
Had also tried the fried rice which is not too bad. The rice are well fried and does not give a damp taste. One can really feel each grain of rice in your mouth.

Beach Rd : Prawn Mee
First time for Moi to eat a bowl of Prawn Mee and not feeling thirsty from all the MSG. I do believe the Beach Road Prawn Mee House did make their own soup base. The prawns used are also very fresh and thus the meat comes out easily without sticking to the shell of the prawns. Well, price is little steep for kopitam style at $5 each for this small bowl. =P But it's a place I wont mind going back again to try its prawn noodle.

Sweet tooth
Well, I dun really have a sweet tooth and Moi does not like sweet stuffs and dessert kind of things in particular also.... I dun dislike eating them but I dun have any special craving for it. So guess what I had during my office tea break....
Discover another little haven selling nice and expensive cheesecake after Secret Recipe along Robinson Road. This little haven is located at concealed corner inside Lau Pat Sat. I tumbled on it quite coincidentally and bought 4 pcs at one go to share with my colleagues....
It's a little pricey than Secret Recipe's already pricey slice.... I understand it's about $6.90 per slice at their cafe located at East Coast. The one located at Lau Pat is less pricey at about $6.00 per slice, maybe because it's just a stall without any sitting area.
The little stall at Lau Pat Sat does lack variety compared to the one at East coast... but the cheesecake still tastes very smooth and not too sweet.. but the taste is not strong enough to create a craving desire inside Moi to go back for more BUT i wont mind dropping in and buy if I happen to pass by again.

She might be Miss Prima Donna but tonight performance is kind of disappointing.... I had expected to hear more punch, more energy...to bring out Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 passion and power.... but Miss Prima Donna's cello was nearly drowned by the SSO team playing... Disappointed I was.... But then music is highly subjective and so one man's music is another man's noise. I was a little shocked that there was an encore, even when there was no standing bravo or applause... And my heart just goes........aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.... ??
But the second part on Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55 'Eroica' by SSO more than made up for it... Beethoven's Third Symphony was originally dedicated to and named after Beethoven's hero Naopleon Buonaparte. But when Napoleon declared himself Emperor of Austria in 1804, an enraged Beethoven ripped up the dedication and retitled the work "Eroica" meaning hero and rededicated it to Jean Baptiste Bernadotte. Anywhere that's history.... =P
The role of the conductor had always puzzled me and from time to time, I really question the importance of the Conductor. I mean after vigorous and numerous practices, surely and definitely, all the players should know their parts and their turns very well, right? Majority of the players in the orchestra never seem to be taking notice of the cue from the Conductor anyway. i understand that the role of the conductor is to communicate real-time information to performers like the beat, tempo, dynamics and other musical elements. Plus maybe to catch any sleeping players or a distracted player playing a wrong note. Bababababababahahahahaha!! K...lah...enough of my nonsense. But Singaporeans do still need to learn a few Concert etiquettes....
1) Do not be late for concert. Or you would only be led into during intermission. More than 50 people would being let in after the intermission. It's was amazing...or shocking.
2) One symphony or piece is usually made up of 3-4 movements which is indicated on the program book. Do take note and do not start clapping during the orchestra's pause between these movements. One is suppose to clap only after the whole piece was played.
3) Do not talk or make noise during performance. It's very rude even if you would to think that the orchestra is playing crap. There was this KID sitting beside me and he just couldn't shut his trap. With his irrate mummy and daddy trying to explain to him what is this and what is that? This is very distracting and disturbing to other concert goers who had paid much to come and listen and enjoy the music and not your voice. Moreover the concert environment is very quiet and your whisper is like a dinosaur talking. Even if you would to cough, one must try to control till a suitable break as not to disturb the performance.
4) Wear appropriately and not sloppy with slippers and tank-top. Concert tickets are expensive and watching a concert is and should not be like watching a movie.

For the past few weeks, I have been coming here nearly every week... without fail.... What's so attractive about the food? Actually the food is not any particular super fantastic, die die must try type. However it has been more like a kind of Asylum for Moi. To run away from the bustle to share a quiet moments to listen to her... And most importantly, the opening hours are till really late so a nice place to go for your midnight supper after a long work, or midnight show. The food is just like the typical hongkong cafe style type. Nothing surprisingly good and nothing surprisingly bad. A good gathering place though...
Everytime we still order the same food and drinks..Boring? Maybe. I think we are just too comfortable and at ease in our comfort zone and not willing to venture out to try new things... Many a times, I watched the menu and wanted to order the HK Crab Congee, Fresh Crab Beehoon, Pork Chop Cheese Baked Spaghetti and the popular Mango Snow Ice with Condensed Milk, Butter Pineapple Bo Lo Bun and Yuen Yang (a rhapsody of coffee and tea) but i DIDNT. Hmm...again we had...
Life can be so boring har... but change is good and we should try to change sometimes...

Le Fantôme de l’Opéra
Buttercup went to watch Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous musical - The Phantom of the Opera and didn't really quite understand this lovely tale... my favourite love story... And so I thought I should blog about the Le Fantôme de l’Opéra here.
The Phantom of the Opera is a French novel by Gaston Leroux and I had read the translated version by Lowell Bair. I had also read another of Gaston Leroux's earliest work, The Mystery of the Little Yellow Room (translated). My curosity and interest for the Phantom of the Opera started when I first watched NBC's 1990 two-part television series starring Charles Dance and had been smitten to try find all possible information relating to the Phantom of the Opera. Till now, I had strong belief that this story was true and that Erik, the Phantom of the Opera, an eccentric, physically deformed genius who terrorizes the Opera Garnier in Paris, France. He builds his home beneath it and takes the love of his life, a beautiful soprano, Christine Daaé under his wing was true.
Though there is no supporting evidence to support the authentic of Leroux's story but the abduction of Christine Daaé, the disappearance of Viscount Raoul de Chagny, the death of Count Philippe, the crashing chandelier, the existence of the underground lake under Paris opera house and even the rumoured opera ghost did exist during the period. But the story might be beautified under Leurox's hands. The story evolved around the triangle love between Christine Daaé, her childhood sweet heart, Raoul and her music teacher cum Opera ghost, Erik.
The part that I was so much smitten with was the part of Christine's genuine sympathy and love for Erik. Though she had agreed to marry Erik to save Raoul and the Perisian instead of love but she had kept her promise to be his living wife. She displays her love for him by crying with him, not running away when he takes off his mask, and even kisses him on the forehead. This granted Erik a happiness he never thought possible. In despair, Erik releases Raoul and Christine and gives them his blessings to marry. He asks only that Christine come back after his death, and bury him with the ring he gave her.
True love forgives and accepts and sets free... such a lovely story.. *heart melts*
