2011

Spent the last hours of year 2010 high above the ground. Thanks Twinny and her dearie for the wonderful invitation and I enjoyed myself tremendously with little Aka, Junior Teddy and Junior2 Teddy. Moi has since long "stopped" making new year resolution since I knew I will have difficulty keeping to them. Instead this year I decided to make some new year wishes and hopefully my wishes will come true in year 2011. Kekeke! *cross fingers*

2011 will be another major year for Moi just like year 2009 while there will be some major changes in Moi's life from the house, my career and of course with hubs. But I am looking forward to it and ALL fired up and ready!!

Happy New Year Friends!!

Growing up

Was chatting with the girls about how times have evolved and were glad that we have live through the era of no internet, stamping date dues on library books, transistor radio, typewriter, blackboard, thin and flimsy 8" floppy disk, 3 1/2" mini disk and now thumbdrive. From the bytes to megabtye to giga to tretra and what we have.

The familiar path that I walked through for the past 30 over years, still the same but mini changes have crept in quietly and sub-consciously over the period that if we dun pause and take a notice, we might not even be knowing the change. It's so amazing. The India mama shop below my home and the block opposite ours were gone. How I love to cajole mummy and granny to get me my favourite tibits, kaka, mamee, cheese balls or chocolate waffle. How grandmother will buy us the sticky green stuff to blow into balloons.

The slower pace in life because of time or because we were young. The carefree days of playing "touch-me-not" with mimosa while waiting for the school bus with twinny and granny. The games we played, the love we grow up on, it's never change. It still there.

I love my life, I love my family, I love you all.

Xing Chen Ba Ku teh

Another alternative for good Ba Ku Teh's try... Recommended by Twinny's Hubby. Well, I could feel quite a good amount of MSG in the soup but nevertheless peppery ba ku teh is always comforting to Moi's stomach.

Chanko Nada

Brought the little Sumo to this SUMO restaurant that Twinny's hubby was raving about how "value" their lunch sets are. Mummy dearest, Moi, Twinny, her hubby and little Sumo went to Chanko Nada on a weekday afternoon to try out their lunch set.

(1) Chanko-nabe set with genmai (2) Gindara set with sashimi and oden

(3) Gindara set with tempura and oden (4) Ramen set with mini chahan

Chanko-nabe refers to vegetable meat stew traditionally served to sumo wrestlers. I would say the food is reasonable...price is really worthwhile....the sets range from $12 - $16 and no service charge and GST. ;-)

Sashimi-don

It was one of the day when we just craved for SASHIMI, SUSHI... raw fish and so we made our way to Sushi Tei @ Playground.

Salmon + Ikura (salmon fish roe) oyakodon

SuSe fell in love with IKURA since Moi recommended him... kekeke! I ordered negitoro don instead. I love minced maguro on rice... it's just very easily to eat...and tasted sweet and fresh.

Negitoro don (minced tuna with green onions over rice)

Umaki (grilled eel wrapped with egg)

Kki ケーキ

Moi was totally, completely mesmerised by this place. It was so cosy, quirky and simple and nice. Every piece of furniture, deco, cutlery, cake, item was specially thought of, selected and made. There are 2 sections to this shop, the pastries section and the little dorm shop selling all the little retro items that we used to play when we were kids. I got really excited while I am in there.... like visiting an old museum.

This blog has some good photos of the interior of Kki Cafe.

Kki specialised in Japanese cakes. The traditional Japanese western cakes that taste very smooth and very soft and very sweet. Moi loves the Antoinette especially when my taste bud touches the first ooshing mango puree. Heavenly. Coffee was also the Japanese aromatic coffee.. really transport moi to the little cafe along Tokyo street that moi has adored.

My Black $4.00, His White Coffee $4.50

Antoinette $8.00 - mango creme within the white chocolate

Mont Blanc has been a HOT favourite for moi... cause it is a very traditional Japanese cake. Taste wasn't that bad but I have tried better ones so I got a little disappointed with this one.

Mont Blanc $8.50 - almond tart base topped with sweetish sponge and twirls of chestnut puree

Grandmother cooking

The passing down of love and tradition to us with her pair of hands...

Mom cooking

Soya sauce pork, stir fried winter cucumber, fried egg. Simple dishes but always missed and never sick. Love you, Mummy.

Ikea

Ikea is Moi's favourite hunt and loved being there for others just browsing through and having fun with all the items available. For apple cutter, tv console, bed, sofa, baby cot, etc.

Typical IKEA meals... Moi loves the chicken wings.. yummy!

Christmas Party

This is yet an extremely delayed posting since we are more than 6 months after christmas. The first christmas party with Genie. Well, Genie was really patient to tahan all our blabbering and nonsense. Kekeke! Well, this year we have a special "game" - Follow the lyrics organised by Blossoms. Nobita-kun was definitely "well-prepared". His powerpoint is just so jaw-dropping. Kekeke!

Lunch treat from Gian and Buttercup

Gifts from Blossoms

AND applause to Twinny and her Dearie to be able to still put up the christmas tree despite their busy schedule of "handling" little akachan.

Post-note
The christmas tree is still in its full glory, intact at Twinny's abode. Err.. waiting for christmas party for 2010?? =P

Looking back

Buttercup just became Mrs Gian and we got invited to the lovely Mr & Mrs Gian's abode. As we sat in the cosy room and reminisce over the paths we have walked through over for so many years and how this blog has come to its 4th anniversary from its first post. Time really flies and we wonder how we have ever survive over all these years.

As the person in it, we never notice how much we have changed until we step back and look at ourselves from outside. The many ups and the downs and the supposed path A become B etc. And the 3 of us (Buttercup, Bubbles and Moi), the embracer of singlehood ladies move to another stage...and so will Sumiko Tan.

It's not that we are worry about the time-bomb or concern about loneliness. Till now, I never stopped myself from going some place by myself, traveling alone without the man, going late nights with the girls, went out drinks myself, doing things just by myself.... of course with the new relationship, there is compromise, there is definitely changes but nothing still left moi wanted to keep that ME, MYSELF and MY SPACE all to myself and I am still myself.

Spaggdies

A 5 ladies outing became only 3 girls and we wouldn't have chosen here if not for the other 2. Not complaining but who wants to come so far if we have nearer options. Still recall the many years ago when Moi had to come with another one to Spaggdies like nearly every other sunday and ordering the same Crayfish Parmigiana. Thanks Goodness, no more nightmare. =P

Lor Mee

Went back after a long while to eat the Maude Road's Lor Mee and was I disappointed. The lor mee didn't taste quite there and even their fried fish which SuSe had loved was NOT nice. The fish tasted really fishy... NOT FRESH?? But it will be very difficult for Moi to ever go back again.

Fei Fei

Maybe I have heard raving reviews from many on Fei Fei that when Moi finally tried it, it seems nothing too much fantastic. Heard from Harry that the prawn mee tastes just as good so we ordered 1 prawn mee soup too. Not too bad though Moi prefers the Beach Road's.
